EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Kangaroo Population Report:

Australia’s commercial kangaroo industry kills 1.6 and 1.8 million animals annually—making it the world’s largest land-based wildlife use for meat and skins. Yet serious concerns persist regarding the population estimates that guide commercial kill quotas. This independent assessment identifies critical gaps in reliability, transparency, and sustainability across state-managed kangaroo management plans.
